The iR2771-S3 combines two 2.5" drives into either a RAID 1 when a system failure cannot be tolerated or a RAID 0 when system performance needs to be improved. Using the iR2771-S3 offers the possibility to use a RAID where it is not possible otherwise. For example, as an external hard disk in a 3.5" case or if the existing PC hardware does not provide a native RAID.
